The Worship and Music Action Team supports the work of the worship and music staff in shaping worship services, music (both in and out of worship), and special events and performances. Meeting monthly, the team works closely with the minister, lay leadership, and the music director to assure thoughtful, inspiring worship in the life of the church.

Worship: serves as a sounding board for the minister as she plans services and gets feedback from recent past Sundays. Offers advice, gathers feedback from the congregation and participating volunteers, looks ahead to future worship services and holidays to help worship staff imagine and carry out fresh, engaging gatherings in UU and other traditions. Creates the annual budget in collaboration with staff and the lay leadership. The team also helps organize summer services and other times when the staff is away.

Music: assists the music staff in planning music for services and other events. Provides feedback and serves as a sounding board for the congregation about music. Helps to imagine and carry off music initiatives and events such as the annual June culminating musical youth event. Helps to hire new music staff and offers suggestions for music from the “classic” UU songbook, and diverse, underrepresented traditions.

Since 2020, the committee has also offered support and advice to the staff who create and manage remote services via Zoom and other electronic collaboration tools.
