There’s still time to Share the Plate for Ukraine!
On Oct. 1, Follen’s Share the Plate was a collection to aid Ukrainians inside and outside their country. If you couldn’t contribute that day, you have the rest of October to help. Please make your check to Follen Church and put “STP Ukraine” in the memo line of your check or designate this if you donate another way.
Follen delivers every dollar you give to the Providence Charity Organization (Gondviseles in Hungarian) of the Unitarian Church of Transylvania. Follen’s Partner Church Committee began making donations for Ukraine via this humanitarian group in April 2022 after Russia invaded.
Your deductible Share the Plate donations in October provide humanitarian aid to help Ukrainians survive the war. In 2022, Follen Partner Church Committee’s Share the Plate raised $9,634 for Ukraine! The Providence Refugee Organization uses your donations in both wonderful and heroic ways:
In early 2022, Providence began providing food and shelter to Ukrainian women and children fleeing the war.
In July 2023, Providence volunteers drove their 9th shipment of food, medicine and other humanitarian supplies deep into Ukraine. This included delivering badly needed generators to a hospital in Odessa where missile strikes disrupt electricity regularly.
People in the Providence Charity Organization are folks like you and I. They pledge, “…Our organization…[does] not discriminate due to…race, color, religion, sex, nationality, [or politics]… Our objective [is] to help our fellow human beings suffering [from]…the war.”
They are living this month’s Follen theme of Courage by continually delivering humanitarian aid despite the deadly drones and other weapons that target trucks. Please help them continue their mission, which is critically important as winter approaches and bombed power plants fail!
Thank you! — Follen Partner Church Committee
