Our social justice programs are managed and led by the Social Justice Action Team (SJAT), which is a council consisting of leaders of Follen’s social justice programs and the congregation at large. Our work and responsibilities are defined by our charter. If you are interested in joining SJAT or simply want to learn more about its programs, contact Chairs Meg M. and Anne K. at sjat@follen.org.

2025 Priorities Session

2024–2025 Activities

• establishing a new email list for Follenites who want to hear about more social justice actions more quickly
• holding sign-making sessions before the Hands Off! rally on April 5 and Lexington Alarm on April 19, as well as a Protest 101 session for Follenites new to protesting
• hosting listening sessions and posting a questionnaire about Follenites’ visions for social justice
• creating a Banner Renewal Task Force so Follenites can propose messages for the site in front of the church
• holding an open call for organizations for 2025–2026 Share the Plate collections
• creating programming about social justice for Follen’s Ferry Beach retreat
• sponsoring social justice programming proposed by Follenites, including a climate fundraiser for Moroccan women agriculturalists, a program on “Firewall for Freedom” by the Massachusetts ACLU, and the Pernambucon Ensemble’s climate fundraising concert
• facilitated transferring more than $23,000 of Share the Plate contributions to 8 organizations
