Gun violence — murders, suicides, and accidents — takes more than 33,000 American lives every year. More than 2,700 of these are children and teens.

Follen’s Gun Violence Prevention Group is working to help battle this appalling problem at the local, state, and national level. We do this by keeping awareness and understanding high, and by rallying public support for specific legislation.

We support alternatives to violence though organizations such as Youth Jobs Coalition and the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute.

In 2016, we sent a contingent of 86 Follen people to the Institute’s Mother’s Day Walk for Peace (see photo above). We were pleased to be recognized in 2016 for the second year in a row as the faith community that contributed the largest amount to the Peace Institute through the walk.

We continue to explore solutions to injustices that minority groups face with regard to violence. To join the conversation, or for more information, contact Anne Grady at, or come to the Social Justice table at coffee hour.
