SJAT Protest Opportunities, April 2025

Hi Follen folks! There are a variety of opportunities for sign-making, protest and social justice training coming up this April!

Friday, April 4: Protest Sign Making at Follen

7:00–9:00 PM

Join Follenites making signs for the Saturday Hands Off! Rally.

Saturday, April 5: Hands Off! Rallies

Follen’s SJAT team is organizing a carpool to travel to the Boston Hands Off! Rally. We will be meeting at the Alewife T station turnstiles at 10:00 AM. Sign up to carpool with this Google form.

Don’t have three hours to go to Boston? There are also rallies in Arlington, Waltham, and Bedford as well as other locations in Massachusetts and around the country. Many Follenites have received an email stating that “a group of concerned Lexington residents will gather at 1:30 PM on the sidewalk by Meriam St.,” but this group hasn’t registered with the main Hands Off! Rally Site.

Saturday, April 12: Deescalation Training with UU Mass Action

Join this morning workshop at First Parish Concord to learn strategies for dealing with conflict at  Patriot’s Day events. Read about why UUMA is doing this, and register.

Saturday, April 19: Lexington Alarm

The Lexington Alarm is a group of Lexington residents “organizing a peaceful, visible presence at the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution in Lexington on April 19th.” They will be demonstrating at 11:00 AM during the Battle Green Rededication Ceremony and from 2:00 to 4:00 PM distributed in small groups along the Patriots’ Day Parade Route. Read their slogans or order one of their signs.

Social Justice Mailing List

Want to help continue to work for social justice? Join our new email list, Follen-Justice!

The purpose of this list is to make it easier for everyone to find out about opportunities to work for social justice and to let other Follenites know about work you’re doing where you could use a hand! Post about your school coat drive or your postcard campaign, or look for folks to carpool to a march—the possibilities are endless.

Sign up by emailing Meagan, Follen’s Director of Community Engagement, at dce@follen.org.

And if you missed the Protest 101 session with Dave L. on March 30, you can still read the session handouts.
