Hi, I’m Dave! I’m on SJAT, and I help out with coordinating getting Follenites to rallies, protests, and marches. I’m looking for helpers, and even if what I describe isn’t you, can you think of a Follenite who might be interested? Maybe in your covenant group, action team, or activity group? So here goes. :)

At rallies/marches, there’s a lot of infrastructure to help make it run smoothly. Something I’m hoping to get Follen to do: rather than bringing (say) 100 people to the next No Kings event, how about we instead bring 90 people and 10 helpers?

So what kinds of helpers am I looking for? People who:

• Can stay calm if things get tense
• Are interested in helping others

In particular, marshals help guide people, answer questions, and act as lookouts for anomalies (the crowd is looking in, so marshals are looking out) to keep everyone safe. Training is a 2-hour course that happens often.

There are also street medics who can be anyone—you don’t need medical credentials! There are 2 types of trainings for street medics, both of which are coming up soon in March/April (details TBA):

• People with no medical experience need a “full training,” which is 20 hours spread out over multiple days.
• People with current or past credentials of MD, NP, RN, PA, ALS, BLS, or WFA/WFR (wilderness first aid/responder) are eligible for “bridge training,” which is 5 hours in 1 day.
