Rev. Susanne Will Be Moving On This Summer

She Is the Candidate for Minister at a Local UU Church

My Dear Follenites,

These two years among you have been a been a privilege and a time of deep learning and professional development for me. You have given me support and courage to step fully into my vocation for ministry, and I am so grateful.

As a result, in January I entered into the UU minister search process for the first time. I was successful.

Another area congregation has chosen me to be its candidate for ministry. That means that, from a pool of applicants, they chose me. I will go to them for a week later this spring, leading worship twice, and they will vote on calling me to be their minister. (Follen used this same process when you called Rev. Claire five years ago.)

The other church will announce my candidacy publicly this Sunday, April 8, and that’s when I will be able to share the place name with all of you.

Of course it’s bittersweet to think about moving on from Follen. It has been a great fit for me, during this big life transition. You all have been incredibly welcoming and supportive, and you’ve challenged me to hone my preaching and leadership skills. In gratitude, I’ve worked extra hard to help streamline and improve our Follen communications processes, welcome and involve new members, keep our committees vital and happy, and develop new adult programs and social justice initiatives.

Because of you, I’m a more skilled, passionate, and experienced UU minister. So it’s time for me to move on and share all that good stuff with another wonderful (but smaller) UU church. Thank you for all your help and for your good service to the strong faith we love and share!

In love and deep gratitude,

Susanne
