RE News This Week

~ Nursery care this week is available for children through age 5 for two services, 9:30 and 11:30.  Our nursery is located on the ground floor of our building (enter through the side doors off the curved driveway, walk down the stairs and to the left).  Thanks to Melissa Hawkins and her staff of teen assistants for once again heading our nursery this year!

~ In class religious education begins next week (September 17). All children and youth MUST be registered to participate in RE programs, which include OWL (Our Whole Lives), Middle School Youth Group, Coming of Age, and FUUY (Follen UU Youth).  Register your child(ren) now.

~ A teacher training program will occur on Saturday, Sept. 9, from 2-5 PM in the Community Center, sponsored by the Religious Education Action Team (REAT).  All teachers and advisors are welcome and encouraged to attend – practical advice, how-to tips, schedule planning, curriculum review, and more will be part of the afternoon;  child care and snacks are provided.  Please email Deb Weiner, Interim DRE, to indicate your participation.

~ A meeting of FUUY parents will take place on Sunday from 1-2 PM in the Anne Smith Room.  This is especially helpful for parents of youth new to FUUY however all are welcome.  You’ll have a chance to meet the advisors and ask questions of all, including Youth Program Coordinator Brian Sewell and Interim DRE Deb Weiner.

~ Al meeting for parents of all youth signed up to participate in OWL will occur on Sunday, Sept. 17 at 1:00 PM.  A light lunch will be served. This is a meeting to review the program, expectations of youth participating in the program, goals, and more. OWL classes are scheduled to begin on Thursday, Sept. 28 at 6:30 PM in the Anne Smith Room.

~ We Need More Teachers! Our new teaching system is easier for teachers, better for students, and uses a team teaching approach! We particularly need teachers for PreK/K and grades 1-2, 3-4, and 5-6.  Can you help?  Please contact Deb Weiner, Interim Director of Religious Education, at dre@follen.org or sign up to teach.
