Dear God whose name is every syllable ever spoken in love,
We are Universalists. We know that Hell is not a place underground,
But rather something we create up here, in spite of all the beauty that surrounds us.
And there is no Hell in scripture or in life more terrible than war.

Dear God, as our nation once again prepares for war, may we yet be surprised.
May the voices of sanity and mercy somehow manage to avert catastrophe.
No matter what comes, may be be brave enough to face it head on
And shout out loud what we know is true:
All people are worthy,
All children are sacred,
All souls are holy,
And salvation has never been won with a bomb.

We reach out with loving hearts and helping hands to the people who are terrified in Iran, Palestine, Israel, the United States and the whole rest of the world.

May we one day build a world where this kind of fear is unthinkable.
