Judit-Katalin, 17, comes from a farming family in Transylvania, Romania, but wants a different life. “My favorite subjects are physics, chemistry, English literature, and history. I also have a passion for theater and I hope to someday see a show on Broadway.”

Norbert, 15, wants to be an engineer. Last year, he helped his dad start building a new house for their family. “It was really hard but was really fun too.”

Julia, 23, is pursuing her master’s degree to become a teacher of Romanian language and literature. “I have also been a folk-music performer for 13 years in various shows, where I sing.” She is grateful for the monetary assistance she has received from her Follen donor. “I hope [my donor and I] can meet one day! I wish you all the good in the world!”

Jozsef-Hunor, 18, entered college this year and wants to become a mechanical engineer. He is an avid hiker, biker, and swimmer. His favorite subject is physics.

Thanks to Follen members, these students from our partner church in Szentmihaly, Transylvania, Romania, already receive small scholarships that help cover education costs.

But 4 other students need someone to provide a $500 scholarship. That amount buys much more in Romania than here, enabling their parents to pay transportation and other education costs. Romanian families need assistance more than ever because the war in next-door Ukraine has doubled Romania’s cost of living.
