COME ONE COME ALL:
The June Gilbert and Sullivan operetta is a Follen tradition going back more than 50 years. In spring, Youth and Children’s Choir members rehearse a G&S Operetta, which is performed on a June weekend. It’s a joyous, hilarious, music-filled way for families, friends and others to enjoy the special talents of our youth and children.
After the pandemic hit in March 2020, it soon became clear that this year’s operetta program would need to change to keep both participants and audience members safe. After a few Zoom meetings with the participants, it was agreed that we would undertake a show like never before- keeping the initial material and refashioning it by excerpting songs and dialogue to tell the story of Gilbert and Sullivan’s Gondoliers via a shorter amalgamated video presentation!
All are welcome and encouraged to attend and revel in the silliness and talent of youth from the Follen Community.
During the short intermission, we invite you to grab a glass of lemonade from your ice box and consider a donation to Follen in lieu of a purchased ticket this year. At the close of our show, we hope you will post a “Standing O” in the chat in lieu of applause with a message of appreciation and encouragement for all of the fine young artists who contributed. Bring your popcorn and your funny bones to this unique and special presentation of this year’s operetta, Smol Gondoliers!
