A Discussion with Regina Corrao, Co-founder of Caring Connection
Sunday, October 4, 12:15–1:15 PM
Room 213; Zoom option upon request
Young women across Afghanistan are unimaginably constrained and isolated. They are forbidden by the Taliban from employment, education, and leaving their homes without a male relative. Many speak of isolation and despair. A connection with someone outside of Afghanistan can be a huge emotional boost.
Regina Corrao from Concord First Parish, with an Afghan partner now living in France, runs a program — Caring Connection — that facilitates one-on-one matches between American and Afghan women that are enriching for both parties. Weekly conversations for a 6-month commitment via Whatsapp provide our Afghan sisters with something positive they can look forward to. It also provides an opportunity to improve their English language skills.
Regina will share information for those who are interested in learning about the program and perhaps considering participation. Light refreshments available.
If you wish to join on Zoom, email adultprograms@follen.org ahead of time so we can set it up.
