We’re pleased to share that the installation of Follen’s new building access system is underway! Please bear with us as we get the new system online. Our goal is to make your access to the building work for you.
- The installation of automatic handicap door openers is complete; however, the interior switch at the patio door will only work if the door is unlocked. (This may be fixed by the time you read this.)
- You’ll notice that there are new keypads near the Community Center and Patio doors. If the light on the keypad is green, the door is unlocked. If it is red, the door is locked.
- Unlike in the past, the doors cannot be physically “dogged” open. A code is needed to set the door to be unlocked. However, for meetings and events, the doors will automatically be unlocked before the meeting or event and automatically locked at the conclusion of the meeting or event.
- There will be interior video doorbells installed on each floor of the building: in the Community Center, between the bathrooms on the second floor, and outside the Sonin Room (across from the meeting rooms on the third floor). Anyone will be able to see who is at the door, communicate with them, and let them into the building with the touch of a button, if appropriate. The doorbells may be installed by the time you read this.
- For now, if the door is locked and if you need access, ring the doorbell. If nobody answers, contact your committee chair for access. After hours, please think about whether or not your access is absolutely necessary.
- As part of this upgrade, your existing access codes are not currently working. The Safety Team is evaluating the use of access codes in the context of the new system’s capabilities for additional access methods.
- Credentials with instructions will be emailed to committee chairs. If you have questions or need help accessing the building, please reach out to Angel at admin@follen.org.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we continue to make our building safer and more accessible for everyone.
