Follen has two extremely active choirs for students in grades 1-12. Students from grades 1-5 sing in the Children’s Choir and students from grades 6-12 sing in the Youth Choir.

Singers learn music important to our Unitarian Universalist faith, as well as traditional pieces important to Follen Church. The choirs typically sing once a month in our services, at our annual Pageant performance, at Christmas Eve, and in our annual Gilbert and Sullivan musical theatre production.

In mid-June the combined Youth and Children’s choirs perform a fully-staged and double-cast Gilbert and Sullivan Operetta – a tradition that has lasted for over 50 years. These performances and all the work that leads up to them are a true celebration of the Follen community, as over 50 children and all their parents collaborate with energetic joy on an event that brings pride and self-confidence, as well as fun, to all involved. Sold-out audiences enjoy it tremendously. The operas performed in rotation include “The Pirates of Penzance,” “Iolanthe,” “The Yeomen of the Guard,” “Patience,” “Ruddygore,” and “The Gondoliers.”

Religious Education registration is required for participation in the Youth and Children’s Choir. Register online for the 2018-19 year. A small fee is collected to cover snack and costs associated with our musical theatre production. If you are unable to pay, please reach out to individually.
