The music for “Two Trees” was chosen for our worship theme of trees this month. It is a musical setting, of a William Butler Yeats poem, by Vermont native Eliza Moore, who now lives in Montreal with her family. The song has an infectious verse melody that blooms into an exuberant vocalise refrain. In a small world connection, Eliza is cousins with Follenite Hugh T.

Eliza and Chris E. also collaborated frequently in the early 2000s, including on choral arrangements of “Two Trees” and her song “The Rose.” They also co-composed a finale piece for an American Choral Directors Association program at Harvard.

The children’s and youth choirs offer up Dar William’s “Summer Child,” featuring imagery of children exuberantly running through nature alongside parallel imagery of the passage of time.
