Why Walk? Why Give?

Now in its 30th year, the Walk for Peace is the principal fundraiser for the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute (LDBPI). Its mission, “to create and sustain an environment where all families can live in peace and all people are valued,” is the north star of LDBPI founder, President and CEO Chaplain Clementina Chéry, whose son Louis was murdered in 1994. She has raised $25 million to support programming during her many years of leadership and created a valued and respected resource for Boston and beyond.

Where, When, How to Join the Follen Team

About 15 Follenites will have on their walking shoes on Mother’s Day, and even more Follen donors will be with them in spirit. Follen’s walkers will gather on Town Field Park, 1565 Dorchester Ave., Dorchester, to the right of the stage as you face it, a bit to the back. Look for a Follen sign. A sure-to-be-rousing program begins at 8:00 AM, and the walk itself steps out at 9:00 AM. The 3.2-mile route takes 1 to 1.25 hours to complete, leaving plenty of time in walkers’ days for more events.

Join Team Follen as a walker or donor

Follen’s Racial and Economic Justice Group is promoting Follen’s participation in the walk. If there is enough interest, we will organize carpools. Email us right away at rejgroup@follen.org if you want to be a passenger or a driver. If you will go on your own, LDBPI has helpful information about parking and public transit.
