New or gently used winter accessories such as hats, scarves, gloves, and new socks will be donated to children, youth, and adult members of Waltham’s Africano organization, a community group consisting primarily of Ugandan immigrant families.

Winter clothing for kids up to size 10, and coats/ jackets for all ages are also acceptable, but should be clean, with no missing or broken zippers or buttons.

Items will be ritually hung on the Mitten Tree during the November 24 multigenerational service but can also be dropped off earlier in the large marked boxes in the Community Center by the Christmas Tree. Feel free to order items online and have them sent to the church c/o “Beryl—Mitten Tree.”

Parents: Please talk to your children about the Mitten Tree, and ask them to help make choices about the gifts of warmth that they can provide to other young people and adults.
