Spirit of Life and Love,
into the silence of our breathing
I hold out an empty open hand.
Here we are.

We give thanks for these bodies in which we live and move and have our being.
We give thanks for the roof over our head and the warmth between these walls.
We give thanks for the gift of music, that lifts our spirits even in times of despair.
We give thanks for each person to the right and left of us.
We have made mistakes.

Help us to change, have hope, ask forgiveness, try again.
Spirit, this world is changing so fast,
there is so much pain and suffering.
We are dizzy, we are confused,
we don’t know how to respond or react.
Spirit, give us moments of quiet and peace each day
in which to hear your still small voice.
Comfort us and give us grace and hope.

When we cannot carry the note,
when we have to stop to breathe,
remind us that so many others are carrying the song.

We are not alone.
We are never one thing.
We have each other.
And we will shine on.
