Spirit of life and love and connection,
Be with us now.
We are here again in the month of March, remembering the anniversaries of the past years, the anniversary of the beginning of the pandemic, of the invasion of Ukraine which continues til this day. And now, and now … we have complete and total chaos in our country, our government, our day to day lives. And terrible events like the abduction this week of Tufts graduate student Rumeysa Ozturk.
Spirit, we are here in community and that means so much. Thankfully! We are here with each other, as we face this current situation that is almost beyond words.
Some days my heart feels broken into shards of glass. Other days I remember we have gotten through a pandemic, we are coping with ongoing wars and so many other painful issues in this world of ours. We have the ability to survive many, many difficult things.
Spirit, through the beauty of poetry we can find comfort. Here is a poem by Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer that captures so much:
“The Minimum”
Even when worry wrecks us,
leaving us broken on the shores
of the life we had,
even when we have been wrung
like rags, even when we
are brittle, snappish things,
even then the scent of spring
can reach us with its notes
of damp soil, sharp pine,
and sun-warmed grass,
the air clean and slightly sweet.
We don’t need to open
our eyes. Don’t need to try.
All that is asked of us: breathe.
Spirit:
May we/may all beings be safe and protected.
May we be peaceful.
May we live with understanding and love.
Amen and blessed be.
