Your Pledge Is Important

We give generously of our time, talents, and resources at Follen and beyond, energized by our contributions and grateful for those of others.

At Follen, stewardship involves the totality of our time, talents and resources. Stewardship includes making a financial commitment to support the church.

Follen’s primary source of income is donations from members and friends. The majority of Follen’s yearly income goes to staff salaries and building maintenance, with the remainder supporting Follen’s many programs, including:

How Does Pledging Work?

Each year, starting in January, volunteer stewards reach out to the Follen community to ask each individual or family unit to pledge—or promise—to donate a specified amount of money the following church year to support Follen, its missions, and its many programs.

If you are unsure of what to pledge, there is a contribution guide (PDF) created by Stewardship for Us, an organization that helps UU congregations’ stewardship efforts.

Your pledges are used to determine Follen’s budget for the next church year. Monetary donations are made to fulfill pledges during each church year to provide income to cover expenses. The Follen church year is July 1–June 30.

How to Pay

There are several ways you can pay your annual pledge. For more information on pledging and details on how to pay your pledge, see the Pledging at Follen FAQ.

  • We always accept donations by check, made payable to Follen Church. When writing a check, please note in the memo if it is for a pledge (for example: “Pledge FY 2025–26”).
  • You can set up a recurring charge to your credit card or direct deposit from your bank – ACH.
  • You can also donate online or via text message through Follen’s Text-to-Give number, 781-285-7171.
