At last night’s annual meeting, a record number of Follenites crowded into the Community Center to:
- elect new officers
- approve the budget
- and pass — by a wide margin — a landmark resolution, “Advancing Follen Church as an Antiracist Congregation.”
A motion was made to separate out one portion of the resolution — pertaining to a banner — but that motion was defeated.
The resolution as a whole passed by a vote of 134 in favor, 8 against, and 4 abstentions.
The real work of advancing Follen Church as an antiracist congregation now begins. Soon the Parish Board will determine wording and logistics for the banner, and the Follen Responds to Racism team will continue to develop anti-racism programs.
