Are you looking for a way to fill some of the time spent at home these days? Carolyn Kingston has offered to guide your family through an easy-to-do art project: coloring and creating Mandalas.
Mandala is a Sanskrit word meaning circle, and mandalas are designs within a circle. Circular patterns are found everywhere in nature and in cultures throughout the world. Flowers, shells, snowflakes, starfish are mandalas. The sanctuary of Follen Church is a circular octagon!
Mandalas find many expressions in the spiritual traditions of the world: the colored sand paintings of Tibetan Buddhism, Native American healing circles and the rose windows of Christian churches around the world.
Carolyn will post a selection of mandala templates on this page to print and color ranging from simple to more complex. It is best to color with crayons or colored pencils. Felt pens will bleed through most printer paper. Here are some to get started, some simpler than others. Click to enlarge and print!
Please send completed mandalas to our DRE, Beryl Aschenberg for a welcoming display when we return to our beautiful church building! You can either scan and email to beryldre@follen.org, drop off in the church mail box, or mail to:
