Over the years there have been many ways at Follen to support our immigrant neighbors.

Follenites have been working with LexRAP to support 2 Haitian families who had been housed in nearby hotels. Some recent accomplishments include ensuring that they have legal representation and that the children have opportunities to attend summer camp.

In addition to these deeply personal connections with families, Follenites also support the MGH-Chelsea Health Center, which serves immigrant communities and is part of a Reach out and Read program (where a child 6 months to 5 years is given a new culturally and language-appropriate book to take home at each of their well-child checkups). Follen donates $200 yearly to help support this program and also collects donated books that can be left in a bin located near the coat closet in the Community Center.

More far-flung is the LGBT Asylum Task Force, located in Worcester, which supports LGBTQ people from around the world who are seeking safety in the United States. From its beginning, Follen has supported this project started by Pastor Judy Hanlon of the Hadwen Park Congregational Church in 2008. Right now they have ​​35 asylum seekers, but over the years they have housed over 400 people from about 40 countries and have an amazing 100% success rate in obtaining asylum.
