The Eliza Cabot Follen Library, tucked in next to the Community Center, has a book for you!
This month, Wendy from the Follen Library Team recommends 4 books for teens:
- Jamie Margolin, the author of of Youth to Power: Your Voice and How to Use It, has been organizing and protesting since she was 14 years old. She is a founder of Zero Hour, a youth climate justice organization dedicated to saving life on Earth from the climate crisis. This book gives teens the tools to raise their voices.
- Deepak Chopra’s book Fire in the Heart: A Spiritual Guide for Teens addresses 4 questions that the prolific author has pondered since he was a teenager: Do I have a soul? How do wishes come true? What is the supreme force in the universe? How can I change the world?
- LGBTQ: The Survival Guide for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning Teens is just that — a survival guide. The author has worked for the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. chapter of PFLAG where she helped provide support and education services for LGBTQ people and the families.
- Straight Talk about Death for Teenagers: How to Cope with Losing Someone You Love is addressed to middle and high school students who often ask, “How come when someone dies, people forget about us? Everyone is trying to help the little kids or the parents, but what about us? Don’t we count?”
Find these titles in our online catalog or on the shelf in the Follen Library!
