Ruth from the Follen Library Team recommends three books on the topic of history:

• It is often said that history repeats itself, and in his small but powerful book On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century, historian Timothy Snyder looks back at how we can learn from the past and protect our future.
• Four Hundred Souls: A Community History of African America, 1619–2019, edited by Ibram X. Kendi and Keisha N. Blain, brings together a range of perspectives and reflections by 90 respected writers exploring the wide variety of experiences of the “community of Blackness” of the past 400 years.
• In The Color of Law: A Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated America, Richard Rothstein documents how our cities became so divided. He describes the many ways federal, state, and local governments systematically imposed racial segregation through zoning, policies, and laws since the mid-20th century.
