Deeper Than the Skin

Deeper Than the Skin

Reggie Harris and Greg Greenway are singers and storytellers with a long history of friendship across race. On Saturday, November 2, in their acclaimed Deeper Than the Skin presentation, they will intersperse musical performance with personal stories about race and privilege.

The performance will be free; donations will be encouraged to help Follen Church match a UU Funding Program Challenge Grant supporting our antiracist Music Friendship Initiative. Doors will open at 7 pm for a 7:30pm performance. Performance is family friendly.

The next morning, Sunday, November 3, Reggie and Greg will lead an intergenerational worship service at 10:30am. Children, Youth, and Families are especially invited to a youth-guided discussion with Reggie and Greg (and a light lunch) following the service! Learn more about this event.

How are people affected by what they offer?

  • Deeper Than the Skin is an absolutely amazing experience. Not a performance (although these are two fine performers) but an experience. If you are anywhere within reach of this, don’t miss it.”
  • “Greg and Reggie are two of the most engaging performers [and] to share their deepest concerns and memories is a rare privilege in a very memorable evening….This presentation is an affirmation of the notion that a more perfect union begins with us.”
  • “I think many of us felt that the music and storytelling is a ministry that’s making the world a better place, in a moving and beautiful way.”
