SJAT logoWant to get more involved in social justice at Follen? Here are opportunities to contribute through the Follen community this church year.

Contact SJAT@follen.org for more information about all these opportunities.

Books for Chelsea

Donate children’s books for the children who come to the MGH-Chelsea Health Center. There is a collection bin by the coat closet in the Community Center.

Emerging Issues

The Emerging Issues group sets up lectures and volunteer opportunities to help Follenites respond to our evolving political and social environment.

Food for Thought

Food for Thought dinners happen on the 3rd Thursday of the month from January through April. After a buffet dinner, speakers give a half-hour presentation about a current justice topic and hold a Q&A session.

2026 topics included ICE’s actions in Burlington, the role of song in protest, Palestinian rights, and a talk on defending our rights at the state level by Massachusetts ACLU director Carol Rose.

Opportunities

  • Join a 1-hour meeting to brainstorm ideas for topics for upcoming Food for Thought topics
  • Contact potential Food for Thought presenters
  • Shop at Costco for food for a Food for Thought dinner
  • Help set up, serve, and/or clean up after a Food for Thought dinner

Interfaith Garden

The Interfaith Garden raises fresh vegetables and fruits for the Lexington Food Pantry.

Meet the Moment

Meet the Moment helps Follenites plan for protest and noncooperation actions. Contact mtm@follen.org for more information.
