Groups and Get-Togethers
Follen has many groups for discussion, sports, theatricals, and other activities:
We have monthly and seasonal get-togethers, where Follenites can get to know each other better in informal and festive settings:
Every month, gracious Follenites open their homes for a Follen community potluck. The Soup Suppers generally fall on a Thursday from 6-8 pm. Hosts provide a selections of soups and macaroni and cheese for children; guests contribute bread, salads, desserts, wine, or just themselves! Everyone is welcome.
In March and October, Follenites gather in groups of eight for dinners in members’ homes. Octagon Dinners provide members of the Follen Community to get to know other Follenites better in a relaxed setting.
Follen holds a seder, a traditional ritual meal which commemorates the Jewish holy days of Passover. For more information, contact Follen’s Jewish Heritage Discussion Group.
Hallowe’en Pumpkin Carving
When Halloween nears, Follen’s pumpkins come out! Follenites gather in the evening to share a potluck and carve pumpkins. The finished jack-o-lanterns are then carried to Follen’s front steps for a bright, spooky display. Halloween costumes are admired, but not required.
Holiday Crafts Party
On a Saturday morning in December, Follenites of all ages gather to make crafts to share for the holidays. Past projects have included decoupage candle holders, candy-and-cookie houses, and ornaments galore.
Christmas Caroling Potluck
When Christmas draws near, Follenites gather late on a Saturday afternoon to share food and sing Christmas carols.
