For more information, contact auction@follen.org
Donations:
Follen’s generous and talented members and friends as well as community businesses and organizations donate goods and services to the auction. This is a great opportunity for brand new and longtime community members to share their skills, talents, and interests with others! Please donate!
Past auction items have included:
- Tasty treats: baked goods, monthly sauces, dumplings, assorted jams
- Arts and crafts: handmade jewelry, quilts and knits, paintings, commissioned pet portraits
- Services: photography sessions, organizational assistance, editing, custom compositions, music lessons, gardening, tree-trimming
- Guided adventures: sailing, kayaking, nature walk, glider ride, Roxbury tour and concert
- Events: Game night, escape room, party planning
- Dinners and tastings: bourbon and rye tasting, tacos and tequila, Chinese banquet, cocktail paired dinner party.
- Tickets and gift cards: baseball, pops concert, museums, local shops
Minimum values range from $5 to $500 so there is something for everyone! Some items involve groups of people banding together to pool resources. Others have a “buy now” option at a set price–including some “ticketed” items for fun experiences that involve multiple people and can be a great way to meet new people!
Silent Auction:
Leading up to the Live Auction, many items will be open for Silent Auction bidding. This is done online using an auction service (Auctria). The Silent Auction will close during the evening of the Live Auction.
Live Auction:
Some items are only available to bid on at the Live Auction, which takes place in the Community Center. We have food and drinks, time to socialize and see some of the silent auction items before bidding closes. Follen members serve as auctioneers for the Live Auction and bidding is done in person. If you are unable to attend in person and want a chance to win an item in the Live Auction, you will want to ask someone to be a Proxy Bidder for you.
Childcare will be provided.
Auction Team:
The Auction Team reports to FHRAT. They are responsible for soliciting donations, setting up the online auction system, publicizing and organizing the Silent and Live Auction events, helping coordinate communication between donors and bid winners, and managing cash and financial transactions in coordination with the Follen Treasurer. The main work for the team is in the 2-3 months leading up to the auction; it can be a great way to get involved in the church without a long-term commitment, and they always have fun. Become a team member and help this event come to life!
You can reach the Auction Team at auction@follen.org.
2023 Auction Team: Brian Cali (chair), Sophie Evett, Becky Farnham, Karen Gray-Carruthers, Andrea Paquette, Hill Snellings & Julia Thompson.
We are looking for some new team members to join us for next year!
