Financial and Human Resources Action Team

The Financial and Human Resources Action Team (FHRAT) oversees the management of Follen’s resources of people and money to help assure that the church is able to accomplish its mission as fully and effectively as possible. It plays an advisory role to Program Council, which has the authority to make make personnel decisions, allocate funds, and approve the annual budget that is presented to the congregation at the annual meeting.

The action team operates in close coordination with the congregational administrator and treasurer.

A detailed description is in the FHRAT Charter (PDF).  If you would like more information about the action team or would like to join it, contact the action team representative at fhrat@follen.org.

Subcommittees

FHRAT has 3 principal operating teams.

Finance

Finance monitors the ongoing financial condition of the church and recommends specific actions as needed. It develops the annual budget for review, amendment, and approval by Program Council.

Human Resources

HR handles issues relating to the professional staff. It recommends appropriate salary and benefits and oversees the hiring, evaluating, and, if necessary, termination of staff, under the personnel policies set by Parish Board. You can contact the HR chair at humanresources@follen.org.

Stewardship

Stewardship is responsible for the sources of funding for the church, including the annual pledge drive, the Legacy Society (planned giving), and capital campaigns. It has general oversight over annual fundraising events such as the East Village Fair, the Christmas Tree sales, and the auction.  Any new fundraising events must be approved by FHRAT.
