Martin Luther King Day Gathering for Lexington Seniors

Monday January 15, Brookhaven, 1010 Waltham Street, from 1-3pm

Honoring His Legacy,  Continuing His Message of Sharing

As part of the fifth annual town-wide Martin Luther King Day of Service, Lexington seniors are invited to a gathering to celebrate the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. It will be held at Brookhaven, 1010 Waltham Street, from 1:00-3:00 p.m., with refreshments, music performed by the Lexington Chorale and by several Lexington youth, and brief personal reflections from younger and older Lexingtonians on the meaning of King’s role in our nation.

Those attending are invited to share in the spirit of King’s generosity by bringing a donation for Bedford Green Apartments, a nearly two-year-old home for 70 previously homeless veterans on the grounds of the Bedford Veterans Hospital, with recreational facilities, gardens, and an outdoor patio. Possible donations include (ALL NEW): household cleaning products (laundry detergent, dish soap, floor cleaner, paper towels); hygiene products (shaving cream, razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, soap); sheets (for a full-sized bed); coffee mugs; gift cards to Market Basket, drug stores, coffee shops, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, movies (Burlington AMC); art and decor for apartments; or a check made out to Bedford Place LLC with “Veteran Programming” in the memo line.

To sign up for this event:  Go to lexingtonmlk.org, click on “Volunteer Activities,” and then “Click Here for Volunteer Sign Up.” Scroll down to “Seniors Gathering to Honor MLK,” and register yourself as a Senior Guest (1); to include a family member or friend who will attend with you, put (2).
