Breath, Bow, and Keys highlights the distinctive voices of flute, cello, and piano in a rare and compelling chamber ensemble. This program spans Romantic warmth and 20th-century color, showcasing music by Weber, Schumann, Brahms, Martinu, and Offermans in an intimate concert at Follen Church.

Shaylor Lindsay, piano, received her BA from Brandeis University and her master of music in piano performance from the New England Conservatory. She has studied piano with Lois Shapiro, Victor Rosenbaum, and Patricia Zander, as well as fortepiano with Malcolm Bilson. Ms. Lindsay has been featured soloist with members of the Concord Orchestra and Carlisle Chamber Orchestra, performing concertos of Mozart, Beethoven, and Poulenc. An accomplished accompanist, Ms. Lindsay has presented recitals with leading vocal and instrumental artists and has collaborated with oboist Donna Cobert, performing works from Scandanavia, Eastern Europe, and Russia. Shaylor has appeared live on WGBH’s “Classical Performances” series as both soloist and chamber musician. She performs regularly as accompanist and soloist at Follen Church in Lexington, where she is also the assistant music director. She has served on the faculties of the Longy School of Music and the Waring School, where she currently teaches piano and is staff accompanist. Shaylor also maintains a piano studio in her Lexington home.
Ann Bobo, flute, is a graduate of the New England Conservatory, where she studied with Fenwick Smith. She is currently Pro Arte’s principal flutist and holds principal positions with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra and the Rhode Island Philharmonic. In addition, she is the second flutist and piccolo player with the Boston Lyric Opera. Ms. Bobo is an avid chamber musician and has been included on the rosters of the Rockport Chamber Music Festival, Celebrity Series of Boston, Winsor Music, Carolina Chamber Music Festival, Chameleon Arts Ensemble, and the Radius Ensemble. She spent two years as a fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center and has toured throughout the United States and Asia with the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, and throughout Europe with the Boston Symphony. Ms. Bobo has performed numerous times on WGBH radio programs and has recorded for RCA Victor, Arsis, and New World Records, and she can be heard on the Grammy Award–winning BSO recording of Shostakovich Symphony No. 4 (2019). Ann teaches at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee and the Rivers School Conservatory, and maintains a private studio.
Lynn Nowels, cello, is a freelance cellist in the Boston area performing with such groups as the Cantata Singers, Emmanuel Music, and Music at Eden’s Edge. She was trained at the University of Washington School of Music and at the Blossom Festival Chamber Music School, where she studied with Leonard Rose and Josef Gingold. She was a founding member of the Artemis String Quartet, which specialized in the quartets of Shostakovich. She has been on the faculty of Wheaton College and has recorded for the CRI label.
