Religious Education 2020-2021

We’re RE-Imagining Church!

As with all things right now, Follen RE is moving forward in ways we’ve never done before. For the foreseeable future, our church services and activities will still be virtual as we navigate the reality of the Covid-19 pandemic.  With that in mind, we have three goals for Religious Education for this church year:

  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Community building
  • Spiritually grounding

We’re RE-Imagining How RE Looks!

This fall, we will begin with three main groups meeting virtually for Sunday morning programming:

  • Littles (Preschool-2nd grades) – Meeting each Sunday at 9:30am
  • Middles (3-5th grades) – Meeting on the first and third Sunday at 9:30am
  • Uppers (6 -8th grades) – Meeting on the first and third Sundays at 9:30am

Each month we will have a new theme (similar to what we do with Worship, only we will be using a UU curriculum called Soul Matters, which has different themes already lined up, and is geared to online Religious Education programming). For September, our theme is Renewal.

We’re RE-Imagining How RE Starts!

Online gatherings will begin with an all PreK-8th Grade RE Kick-Off on Sunday, September 27, 9:30am. This will be a time for our young people to reconnect with the joy of being together in the Follen Community, and will include a greeting and chalice lighting with our Director of Religious Education, Beryl Aschenberg. Then the fun begins with exploring the RE Kick-Off bags that will be delivered to all registered children in the week before!

Parents – Be sure to register your children and teens NOW in order to give us time to prepare and deliver their Follen Welcome bag!  You can register them HERE ONLINE

We’re RE-Imagining Youth Programming!

Our Senior High program – FUUY- will Kick-Off on Sunday, September 20 at 6:30pm. We have some fun surprises and Kick-Off Gift Bags planned for them as well! More information is coming as our Youth Advisory Committee meets in early September.

We are also planning to start a Coming of Age group online for 10th Graders later in the Fall.

We know the choices families are making right now are not easy. Thank you for continuing to engage in our community, however, you are able to right now. You’re all doing a spectacular job navigating these unknown waters.
