In the Interim: Celebrations of Spring

I have returned to Follen Church following a whirlwind, amazing trip to New Orleans with 25 of our Follen youth and our chaperones.  The weather was mostly good (albeit hot), spirits were mostly high, and much was learned and accomplished.  And with April vacation over, we return to spring and end of the year milestones and celebrations.

Hard on the heels of the New Orleans trip comes a Coming of Age retreat at Friendly Crossways retreat center, where our COA youth along with their mentors and advisors will connect for a packed 24 hour time of reflection, artistic and spiritual reflection, exploration of nature, and writing of Credos.  The Coming of Age program will culminate later in May during two worship services that we hope will be moving and meaning-filled – mark your calendars now for Sunday, May 21, 9:30 or 11:30am to join us.  And soon after that, we’ll bid farewell to our graduating seniors during worship on Sunday, June 11.

Our classroom religious education programs will conclude on Sunday, April 30th.  Our nursery program will continue through June 11th (summer services begin on June 18) and One Room Schoolhouse religious education (for ages 6-12) and multi-age worship programs will fill the Sundays from May 7 through June 11th – watch this space for details!

And we’re thinking about next year’s religious education program at Follen.  We’ll be offering some new curricula, and we’re looking for great folks, including those who have never taught before, to join us.  We can promise you training, support, good ideas, and the prospect of new friends to meet…and fabulous children and youth to connect to!  If you are interested in finding out more, please contact me (dre@follen.org) or a member of the Religious Education Action Team!

Faithfully,

Deb
