Peter Mulvey has been a songwriter, road-dog, raconteur, and almost-poet since before he can remember. Raised working-class Catholic on the Northwest side of Milwaukee, he took a semester in Ireland and immediately began cutting classes to busk on Grafton Street in Dublin and hitchhike through the country, finding whatever gigs he could. Back stateside, he spent a couple years gigging in the Midwest before lighting out for Boston, where he returned to busking (this time in the subway) and coffeehouses. Small shows led to larger shows, which eventually led to regional and then national and international touring. The wheels have not stopped since.

Rev. Claire is revamping our usher program and invites YOU — yes YOU! — to take part.
Anyone and everyone at Follen can be an usher. It’s a great way to meet people and learn names, as well as have lots of folks meet you and learn your name!
Being an usher is open to Follen newcomers and longtimers, and to people of any and all physical abilities and time availability. Ushers hand out orders of service with a smile, help folks find a seat and use hearing devices, pass the plates, and — after the service — make sure the offertory is counted and deposited safely in a lockbox.
If that sounds simple and appealing, please linger in the Sanctuary after the service on Sept. 20 or 27 for a brief, 15–20 minute training with Rev. Claire and sign up now to be an usher.
Our goal is to have dozens (and dozens!) of Follenites who are all ready to share this fun, low-key welcoming role, whether you usher once a year or many times. If you’ve always wanted a short and sweet way to volunteer at Follen, this is the role for you — high impact, low stress!

It will be a time of connecting with friends and neighbors, young and old, working closely together as a team, and spreading joy and happiness to all the visitors who come from far and wide to share this special day with us.

The Autumn Experiment is an experiment in a small group of people coming together to talk about how they want to — individually! — challenge themselves over the next 3 months, in a supportive, encouraging environment. Sessions facilitated by Dave L.
Come talk about how you feel about a particular challenge you bring and what kind of support you’d be looking for. Just 3 dates — nobody has time to commit to something huge these days— and then *dusts hands* it’s over.
Lessons learned will be applied to The Winter Experiment, starting Jan 2027!
