March
On Sunday, March 19, 7-8:30 pm, by Zoom, we’ll discuss What Comes Naturally: Miscegenation Law and the Making of Race in America by Peggy Pascoe. Pascoe traces the origins, spread, and demise of miscegenation laws in the United States–laws that banned interracial marriage and sex, most often between whites and members of other races.
Reviewers call this book “accessible” and “satisfying.” “I’m a huge fan of this book because it shows how deliberately the system of white supremacy was built.” Lydia Swan finds it “compelling”! More at this Minuteman Library Network link.

The Making of Asian America by Erika Lee
“These powerful Asian American stories…are inspiring, and Lee does them justice in a book that is long overdue.” “Accessibly written for a wide readership.” “The Making of Asian America is an ‘epic and eye-opening’ new way of understanding America itself.” More at this Minuteman Network Library link.
