Music Sunday: Salamone Rossi’s Shabbat

Sunday March 25, 10:30am, Sanctuary

Join Follen’s Adult Choir and soloists as we step back in time 400 years to experience the Sabbath as would the Italian Renaissance Jewish community.  For this special service, we will be exploring the gorgeous music of Salamone Rossi (left), a great sacred and secular composer whose work established choral singing as integral to Jewish worship. Follen’s Music Director Vivian Montgomery will be bringing period instrumentalists from her early music ensemble,Eudaimonia: A Purposeful Period Band, providing accompaniment and instrumental works with baroque strings, chamber organ, theorbo, cornetto and recorder. As Passover and Easter approach, celebrate with us in this truly universalist worship service!
