Civil rights lawyer Josh Beardsley will discuss the realities of mass incarceration in the US and how it manifests in Massachusetts. Brought brilliantly to light in The New Jim Crow by Michelle Alexander, the high incarceration rates of African Americans, particularly African American men, has impacted communities across the country. The history, context, and current status of the prison system both in the US and Massachusetts will be discussed.
