Youth & Junior Choirs

The Follen Church Junior and Youth Choirs have, for more than thirty years, been an integral part of the church music program. These choirs sing at Sunday morning worship services throughout the year, and at the traditional Sunday afternoon Christmas Candlelight Service in December.

The Youth Choir is open to all kids in grades 6 through 12 without audition; the Junior Choir is open to all kids in grades 3 through 5 without audition. Rehearsals are on Monday afternoons (the Youth Choir 5 p.m., the Junior Choir 5:15 p.m.) from September through midJune, with additional Saturday rehearsals for the operetta in May and June. Both choirs follow the Lexington Public Schools calendar in relation to both holidays and snow days.

The Follen choirs are first and foremost church choirs. The majority of rehearsal time is devoted to learning music for Sunday morning worship services. They sing at six of the regular Sunday services, including the Sunday before Thanksgiving and Easter Sunday, and at the special Candlelight Service during the Christmas season. All choir members are expected to sing at all these services. In addition, the two choirs put on a fully staged production of a Gilbert and Sullivan operetta every June one of the treasures of the Follen community. All kids from grade 8 upwards are allowed to audition for a “lead,” and all will get a solo part, however small!

Rehearsals:

Youth Choir every Monday 5:00-6:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary

Junior Choir every Monday 5:15-6:00 p.m. in the Anne Smith Room

We will follow the Lexington Public Schools calendar in relation to both
holidays and snow days!
